Everything you need to know to plan your stay at The Farmers Rest.

Your hosts have compiled a collection of frequently asked questions to help you plan a relaxing, effortless stay at The Farmer’s Rest. From the main farm entrance, there are clear signposts that will guide you directly to your private cabin — easy to find even for late arrivals.

  • Both EV charging and petrol are available within a short driving distance at Whakamaru village, approximately 8 kms from The Farmers Rest.

  • As an operating farm we unfortunately have to decline extra 4-legged animals/ pets on the property.

    We thank you for your understanding.

  • The Farmers Rest accommodates a maximum of two guests. A comfortable queen-sized bed with soft linens and extra blankets awaits couples or solo travellers. The ensuite bathroom has a shower and amenities. Highlight for many is the outside two-person bath with expansive “king of the hill” panoramic views.

  • Your cabin retreat runs on solar power electricity designed to comfortably support your stay. Lights, charging small devices, the fridge and essentials all operate as normal.

  • Check-in is from 2pm and check out is 10am

  • The Farmers Rest invites sunset seekers, stargazers and weekend wanderers.

    Sturdy walking shoes for nearby trail walks

    A good book- you’ve been meaning to read.

    Your favourite tipple to enjoy as the sun dips behind the hills

    Any ingredients for meals you plan to cook or BBQ.

    What we provide:

    Fresh linen and towels

    Kitchen essentials (cookware, plates, cups, basic pantry items)

    Firewood for cooler evenings - lighting devices supplied

    Fresh farm milk on arrival

  • The cabin kitchen is supplied with pantry essentials of oil, salt and pepper. A selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate are available. The out door bbq is popular for pizza makers and easy out door meal ideas or favourite dishes.

  • To help you truly unwind, there is no Wi-Fi. The Farmers Rest is intentionally designed as a place to disconnect, slow down, and enjoy the quiet rhythms of farm life.

    Cell phone reception is reliable; you can still make calls.

  • Your drive to the cabin is across gravel and compacted dirt roads and easily accessible by two wheel drive.
